moderation was takin' by fiaman. i approved. not just because of his reasons, but also in an attempt to bring more users to the forum. we are now in the process of adding trophies and games to the sites. The mods have been takin' away for a short period of time while we make adjustments to the site. It's sort of like a re-do. Whoever can win awards will gain modmanship, because that shows you're determined, and you like to contribute to the VJ, don't ya? I want people to have a reason to come here, and that's what i'm workin' on.
We here at VJ want you to have friendly competition.

All we ever do now in terms of site development is talk. We talk about these microphone chat rooms, we talk about making features for recruiting gamers. We've got plenty of plans & dreams, the next step is doing something with them.

Well these are the first steps in the action process, why you think I did this? Taking away mod from all and implementing new stuff.

To share your ideas. I was just saying that we haven't done anything drastic since going from Newgrounds Xtra to VerveJoint.

I thought we got rid of modship because Fiaman got hurt in the butt.

Well all in all a point is proved. Admins have final say, mods have final say over members. And members get guests to sign up! I wanted to de-mod people for some Reconstruction of the site, adding new things, etc.

Friendly competition? HA! I WILL COLLECT SO MANY TROPHIES THAT I BECOME AN UNSTOPPABLE ENTITY, AND THEN ALL OF VERVE JOINT WILL BOW DOWN TO ME, KING SPUNKY!

Just kidding?

Now that I've gotten that off of my chest, I would like to share my actual opinions on all of this stuff. First of all, I'd like to say that regardless of what we all like/don't like, we held an election and Fiaman won, so I have no problems with that. However, and this is what bothers me, I do not like that he, (Fiaman) has taken on an attitude that basically says "I'm a mod and I can do/say anything I want to and you can't stop me". Regardless of the circumstances, this type of power abuse is wrong, so I think we should have more strict rules for moderators. I'm thinking something like a system of checks and balances. Something that gives regular users the power to say "no" if they feel that someone is going too far. I've had multiple experiences with abusive mods on Newgrounds, and it's not fun. Now, I know it sounds like I'm specifically blasting Fiaman, but even though I think he does need to follow the rules just like everybody else here, I'm not only talking about him. I think these rules need to apply to all future mods, because that's the only way that fairness and equality can be assured.

Also, I agree with Conal in the respect that while a lot of things have been said, not a lot has been done. I do have faith that this will be different, and I hope that the results live up to the expectations this time. I feel like if we can just get one big thing done, it will clear a path for all sorts of new and cool things to get done.

Lastly, I'd like to talk specifically about the games/trophies system. Basically, I think that it's a great idea, but it has one fundamental flaw in it. See, I love the idea of having games here, and i think having trophies, (I'm assuming they're like achievements on XBox Live or medals on Newgrounds) will be even cooler. However, I think that giving modmanship based only on who wins a lot of trophies is generally bad, as it could actually end up ruining the forum. Allow me to explain. If we give modmanship to anyone who can earn lots of trophies, then that means that it is very possible that mods will be corrupt. I mean, even the biggest troll on the internet could potentially get a lot of trophies. Just think about if Newgrounds gave modmanship to whoever collected a certain amount of medal points. It would be chaos! So, I propose that we do one of two things:

1. We still vote on mods, but each trophy counts as a certain percentage of votes. This percentage wouldn't be large enough to put a moron in a mod position, but it might be enough to give somebody that little extra boost they need to become a mod.

or

2. After earning a certain quota number of trophies/trophy points, a user is put up for election. If more than half of the users vote "yes", then that user becomes a mod. If not, then that person is unable to be put up for election for a set amount of time, say, two weeks or so.

I know I basically just wrote a novel, but these things are important to me, and I want this forum to be the best it can be. And that's all I have to say about that.

Good point's, nice info. I feel that, that would be appropriate. As for awards yeah. There will be rewards for things such as recruitment, activity, most humble, etc.
